I'm no Gryffindor, and most of the time, I'm honestly a complete wreck. And so I feel that the coming of a new year gives off this sort of positive energy and hope that helps you get started on your goals. As for my resolutions, I want to make more of an effort at least to be more mature and "the better person" around people I can't stand, to read more books, and to write more.
2011 was really awesome for the most part. I tried new things, fought with my sister less, and formed even closer bonds with my friends. But this past year also had its down points. My cat and fish died and my grandmother had a stroke. Our basement flooded and we had to bale it out, thanks to Hurricane Irene. Then, in the October snowstorm, we lost power for 5 days. Even with all of these less-than-happy events, I think I'll always look back on 2011 as a great and overall successful year.
As for 2012, I am extremely excited. I really think this year will be just as good or even better than the last. I can't wait to make more memories and improve myself. (I just hope the world doesn't end yet. :P) So I hope everyone had a great 2011 and has an even happier 2012!
